Image Editor
Screenshots are rarely ready to send. Fix them without leaving your clipboard.
Open the editor from any image card: the button on the hover bar in the main window, or right-click in the Quick Panel.
Crop
FreeDrag a rectangle; what you selected becomes a new image. Enough for most of what a screenshot needs.
Blur & mosaic
ProDrag over anything you'd rather not send. Choose Gaussian blur or a pixel mosaic, each region with its own strength slider.
Why it matters
API keys, tokens, email addresses, account numbers, customer names: the things that land in a screenshot by accident and then get pasted into a ticket, a chat, or a pull request. Cover them in the two seconds before you send, in the window where the screenshot already lives.
Blur and mosaic are Pro features, and they run entirely on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded to redact it.
Regions stay editable
Redaction here isn't destructive. Click a region you already drew to select it, then switch its style, change its strength, or delete it. Add as many as you need. Each keeps its own settings.
Zoom in to be precise
Scroll to zoom up to 600%, ⌥-drag or ⇧-scroll to pan, or pinch on a trackpad. The zoom indicator shows the percentage and resets on click.
Undo anything
⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z cover every action: every region, every strength change, every crop.
Your original is never overwritten
Press Copy and the edited image goes to your clipboard. The original in your history stays exactly as it was, so a redaction can never cost you the real screenshot.
Text Recognition
On-device text recognition on any Mac. No Apple Intelligence required.
Unlike the AI actions, OCR has no Apple Intelligence requirement at all. If Pastium runs on your Mac, text recognition runs on it too, Intel included.
Results come back with a character count and a scrollable, selectable text box you can copy from.
Pick a region, not the whole image
Open the OCR tab and drag a box around exactly the text you want. You get the error message, not the entire window around it.
On demand, on purpose
Pastium does not OCR every image you copy. Scanning everything would make images crawl into your history, and most images never need to be searched by their text. Copying stays instant; OCR runs when you ask.
Images become searchable
Scanned text is saved with the item. Screenshot a build error this week, type the error code next month, and the image comes back. Cards with scanned text carry a small badge.
Apple Vision, fully offline
Recognition uses Apple's Vision framework, built into macOS. No network request, no upload, no account. It works on any Mac that runs Pastium.
Search
Once a region is scanned, its text belongs to the item. Search works on it the way it works on anything else you copied, which turns a pile of near-identical screenshots into something you can actually search.
AI Actions
Summarize, rewrite, and label your clips with Apple Intelligence, entirely on your Mac. Nothing you copy ever leaves it.
Rewrite shows you a preview first
Your clipboard isn't touched until you tap Copy. That extra step is deliberate. Unlike the instant transforms, an AI rewrite is worth a look before it replaces what you copied.
Summarize
Turns a long clip into a short title, a one- or two-sentence summary, and two to four tags, all saved with the item, so search finds it by what it's about.
Suggest Label
One click in the label editor fills in a short label for the current clip. No need to summarize first, and it works on short clips too.
On-device
Most AI tools ask you to trust a promise about a server. There is no server here, so there is no promise to take on faith. Here is what happens the moment you tap an AI action.
The model is part of macOS
Pastium doesn't bundle, download, or host a model of its own. It asks the Foundation Models framework, the language model that ships with macOS as Apple Intelligence, and it runs on your Mac's own silicon.
No network request is made
Your text and the instruction that goes with it never leave the device. These actions work with Wi-Fi off, in airplane mode, on a plane.
No cloud, no third party
Not Private Cloud Compute, not OpenAI, not us. There is no server in this path, which is why there's nothing to intercept, subpoena, or leak.
Nothing is kept or trained on
Pastium never logs what you copy, what it asks the model, or what comes back. Only the result you choose to keep is saved, on your Mac, with the item it belongs to.
AI runs only when you ask it to, on the one item you asked about. It never sweeps your history in the background. And because this is a small on-device model built for tasks like summarizing and rewriting, it's worth reading what it gives you before you use it. Read the privacy policy.
Apple Silicon only
Needs a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) on macOS 26 or later. Intel Macs can't run the AI actions on any macOS version.

These stay off until you turn them on in Settings → General → AI. You choose when they run, and on which clips.
Under the hood
Pastium is written in Swift and SwiftUI, so it looks and behaves like the rest of macOS. AI actions run on Apple's Foundation Models, and Magika, Google's open-source file-type model, runs locally to tell what kind of thing you copied. None of it needs a server.

When free-plan limits are exceeded, the oldest items are removed automatically. Only pinned items are kept. Adding an item to a Collection does not protect it from clean-up.
